Unable refresh outstation

Hi

I was reading values from RTU to GeoSCADA. I am trying to refresh outstation to get most recent data from RTU. As you can see in attached file, I try to refresh outstation from object menu, but it is not doing anything.

Only when I disconnect and connect RTU to SCADA, it updates outstation data.

Any idea why it this happening and how to fix it?

The comms log shows you've configured a five second scheduled DNP3 integrity poll (this is extremely fast, typically this is hours or days) and you've made around one hundred Refresh requests (which are also DNP3 integrity polls).

The integrity poll responses show that there are six binary input points (g1v1) and two analogue input points (g30v5). The values of these eight points are not changing, except for analogue input 1 which frequently changes by a small amount (less than 0.01).

When the RTU is restarted it is also generating two DNP3 events (for binary input 5 and analogue input 2) which include a timestamp.

Which timestamp have you animated on the mimic in the "unable to refresh.jpg" screenshot? I'm guessing it relates to one of the two points that is generating a DNP3 event which is causing it to update. The Refresh should be forcing all eight points to update even though the values aren't changing and I can't see any reason why it wouldn't.

As your using DNP3 the Refresh method will perform a DNP3 integrity poll. What data is the RTU returning in the response to the integrity poll request and does this include timestamps?

You can log the comms between Geo SCADA and the RTU to see what the RTU is doing, see Enable or Disable 'Normal' Communications Logging on a Channel.

Hi Andrew

Regarding data, I have attached screen shot of RTU and data is transmitting to SCADA, They are time-stamped.

I also attached Pick Action screenshot for your reference.

I found log file from Server Status but unfortunately I could not translate information in it, to debug what is the issue.

I have noticed when I stop and run RTU again, data refreshed but while using Pick Action, it is not working.

Hi Andrew

Because of too many changes I re-design and programmed everything from scratch. I lost my track on changes.

1- As you mentioned, I have change polling to 1 hour.

2- I added a new button to refresh outstation manually by using "REFRESH" action, but no success.

3- timestamp is for outstation.

4- I dig in more in SE help and it seems that this time only updated when we restarting the RTU to check communication health.

5- I added timestamp of one of points ,as you can see it is changing contiguously.

If number 4 in above is correct, so we it seems we don't have problem. I need your confirmation about it.

Another question is that if I want to refresh and check connection health, is there any way? as it seems button and adding REFRESH action to it is not working for this case.

Regards

The outstation time property is updated whenever the state of the outstation (healthy, failed, available, disconnected etc.) changes.

The point current time property is updated whenever Geo SCADA receives new data from the outstation for the point. For DNP3 this will either be a timestamp from the RTU or the time that Geo SCADA received the data from the RTU depending on how the outstation and point are configured.

If you're using TCP then the outstation state will automatically update if the TCP connection fails.

If you're using UDP or serial then the outstation state will update if the outstation stops replying to requests from Geo SCADA.

If you want to manually check the status of the connection then just perform any action that sends a request to the outstation (refresh, control etc.). If it succeeds (see the event journal) then the connection is healthy.

One device I worked with you could put points in Class 1-3 and not include them in Class 0.

Most devices automatically include point put in Class 1-3 in Class 0, but at this point I would check to see what classes your points are set to and check the documentation on how assigning classes works.
