Good morning,
I have an issue with displaying events without a user logged in that is affecting only one server of a primary/standby pair. (View x pointed to server 1, works fine, pointed to server 2 I get an error).
The issue is definitly security related ('qeury is malformed or invalid') when no user is logged in 'Guest'. AS soon as I log on the query runs fine.
Query is just vanilla select events.
I have checked the following security settings -
Server Configuration\ System Configuration\Security: Tripple checked security settings are identical between the two servers.
Server Configuration\ System Configuration\Permission Restrictions: Tripple checked security settings are identical between the two servers.
View x (on servers) edit properties\ guest user \ event list range (same on both servers).
View x (on servers) edit security\ guest user \ event list range (same on both servers).
What other settings should I be looking for? (There is no AD integration on this setup - all local accounts).
--On a sandbox server I just cant recreate the query failure even intentionally trying to remove perissions to see events - the query never fails - even with no guest permissions beyond 'Read'
Thanks for any help

Check Server Configuration -> SQL Query Configuration -> Parameters -> Allow guest user to execute SQL
It is a relatively new setting and maybe different between servers

Catches me out all the time on test systems where the first thing I do is give Everyone full control so I don't have to log in!
