We have just done a migration of remote assets from Citect/Plant SCADA to Geo SCADA. I am getting some complaints from operators (as you do) that they need to click into the trend timeline and change the time scale through there whereas in Citect there were time navigation buttons to quickly click forward/back in time and it also has a script interface to the process analyst. Process analyst rocks and it is quite frankly one of the only good things about Citect these days.
I know about the TRENDSPEC function but I don't believe there is any way to deal with embedded trends this way. Only thing I could think of is creating multiple pre-defined trend objects with different time scales or something like that.
Any ideas?

Scripts can not affect the appearance or navigation within embedded trends.
A trendspec can be built from script, but a trendspec trend is a popup or full window, not embeddable in mimics.
For embedded trends, interval next/previous items are on the left-click menu of the trend rectangle.
Some users configure a pick action on embedded trends which opens the trend as a popup window - then the ribbon menus can be used to navigate it.
