I am using Geo SCADA Expert to connect to an OPC UA Server for the first time.
I am using Unified Automation UAExpert OPC UA Client installed on the Geo SCADA Server machine to test also.
On 2 separate test scenarios, the UAExpert client is connecting to the server with no issues, and I have not been able to successfully browse nodes through the Analog Point object in Geo SCADA. I have the following error showing up in the OPCUA Driver Log:
07-FEB-2023 18:03:54.291 [14168] connectError called. clientConnectionId: 0, serviceType: OpenSecureChannel, error: BadHostUnknown, overridable: false
I am researching error "BadHostUnknown" and it seems to be a DNS Issue.
In my OPC UA server object, I have the following settings for Server URL and Endpoint:
The OPC UA Server is replacing the IP address with "Compact" when it serves up the endpoints. Somehow this is not an issue for the UAExpert client, but it is an issue for Geo SCADA OPC UA Client.
On a completely separate network and system, the UAExpert Client is successfully browsing nodes on an OPC UA Server and Geo SCADA installed on the same machine is experiencing a timeout when we try to browse nodes.
I have run several tests with a Discovery Server object in my project or without. I have tried to manually enter the Node address on the tag... The error I am getting on the OPC UA Server object is "State - Failed (Connection Error API Reconnect)".
I am wondering if anyone is aware of extra steps that must be taken when using the Geo SCADA OPC UA Client driver as opposed to this UAExpert Client that connects to the OPC UA Servers quite easily.

Following this thread hoping to see my own "Connection Error API Reconnect" and "BadTimeout" issues resolved as I can browse the node once the server is established, but once I create a point whether analog, digital, or string, I cannot browse any node addresses. I just get a blank box where normally tags should be populating, or an unspecified error that populates as seen in this screen shot.

Please can you raise these issues with the support team and send .sde config and driver log files to them?
Use the email address or phone number details in the ViewX About box.
(As the Geo SCADA driver uses a Unified Automation library, it's odd that their own client connects OK).
Thank you.

any luck with this issue?
I have a problem when connecting GeoSCADA OPC UA client to customer’s OPC UA Server (Kepware). The problem is that when the Endpoint of OPC UA Server is not None – None, the GeoSCADA OPC UA Client driver failed to connect to the OPC UA Server. GeoSCADA OPC UA Client driver is not sending its certificate to the OPC UA Server to make it as trusted OPC UA client even that we have imported the certificate into GeoSCADA database.
We have manually copied the GeoSCADA OPC UA client certificate into the OPC UA Server and trust it but we got the following error in the GeoSCADA OPC UA client driver log file:
“Calling UaSession::UaClientSdk::UaSession::connect
Connecting to the following Endpoint: opc.tcp://10.10.31.23:4991/FactoryTalkLinxGateway2
connectError called. clientConnectionId: 0, serviceType: OpenSecureChannel, error: BadUnexpectedError, overridable: false
Connection status changed to ConnectionErrorApiReconnect”
GeoSCADA OPC UA Client driver connected successfully to the OPC UA Server only if the OPC UA Server Endpoint is set to None – None.
we need to connect using (Sign-Basic 256)
any ideas?

I have an open support ticket. I have submitted log files and have not received any help or updates unfortunately. I am convinced they need to escalate to their development team so that we can do a live support session or something.

I was helping Cory with our OPC UA Connection. It looks like you have had success with Endpoint set to None at least. We haven't had any success... even with Endpoint set to None... it looks like you've gotten further than us.
