Copy-Paste function in ViewX

Hi,

Has anyone had issues with copy-paste functions in ViewX?

I am unable to perform simple copy-paste function of a random object.

Keyboard shortcuts also won't work.

Here is the simple description:

-I right-click object I want to copy and select 'copy';

-I right-click the place (group) where I want the copy, and click 'paste'

Nothing happens.

It used to work, I have had some issues before with cut or copy functions from time to time but restarting the server or vievx  solved the issue...

Now, I am working around exporting and importing whole groups of items when I need a simple copy.

UPDATE: I am not able to perform simple copy paste operation of a rectangle on mimic panel.

Any ideas?

I have had a few glitches recently with ViewX.  Normally restarting ViewX gets everything back to normal for a while 🙂

Are you running this in a virtual machine?

What are the OS and GeoSCADA/ClearSCADA versions etc?

It is the latest version of GS, runs on virtual VMWare infrastructure, MS Server 2019.

I have had glitches lately and, yes, restarting ViewX used to solve the issues. But this time restarting ViewX, database engines restarting virtual machine did not help. I lost a lot of time, so I decided to export project data and roll back virtual server to the point before GS installation. I reinstalled GS, imported project data and now everything seems fine.

I'm running ClearSCADA 2017 R3 and have a number of copy-paste issues. 

About half the time after copying an object in the database tree I can't interact with it until I minimize the group it's in or restart ViewX. 

I also have to restart ViewX after embedding new objects as they won't update consistently using the overrides. I can close the screen and reopen it and it'll update to the current state but never thereafter.

Is there no way to copy embedded objects from one screen to the other? They are in the same template but the link is broken and you get an empty X object that says the object no longer exists on the system. I can then go find the same original object and embed it again from the same place and it works fine. I'm not sure if it's best to leave the object path set to relative or not but it seems silly to have to select all the objects, set them to not relative, copy them to the other screen and then set them back to relative.

I think you should raise this with your local Schneider GeoSCADA Tech Support.

Definitely needs to be raised with support. If one person is having issues then someone else will be too, but if no one tells support then no one can tell the development team for them to be able to fix it.
