Access of symbolic link

Hi,

How to Access symbolic links through CAT blocks in an Application? When I implement symlinks etc. In main app view I van drag and drop the symbolic links to associate them. But when I make same functions to Cat block and try to access The values from another Cat, The values dont change and The symlink for example 'APP1.CAT1.variable1' is not seen connected in symbolic link view.

Hi,
What type of CAT are you using: composite or SubApp CAT? Typically, you can't drag and drop symlinks inside the CAT; you can only copy and paste the symbolic link name, which works for the composite CAT type.
If you’re using the SubApp CAT, the symlink syntax will vary. For example:

  • In composite CAT: RES0.APP1.CAT1.VFD.IOSignal
  • In SubApp CAT: RES0.APP1_CAT1_VFD.IOSignal

you can use the below function block to find the symlink name inside the CAT

Hi,
I tested with the VALFORMAT to identify the name, in my case RES0.CAT1.Valve1.progloc, I see it connected in the symbolic link of RES0. But it doesn't cahnge the values. Also tried with just accessing variable with symlinkdst and src in these two CATs, it shows connected in RES0 symbolic links but doesn't communicate in the system to cahnge the actual value. I use composite CATs. Also tried with different names RES0.APP1.etc

Hi,

Have you set the "ModeSignalEn" option to True in the offline parameters? When attempting to change the mode using a symlink, this parameter must be set to True.

Hi,
I changed the "ModeSignalEn" to True, but can't still access/change values of that valve from the other Cat block.

Hi,
Normally, it should work. The Resource name should be added in the symbolic link, I use it for simulation, example bellow:
