UNC/ENC Tunneling to ASD Bus: Prevent XPSI Timeout Errors by Setting Baud Rate to 1200

Issue

When tunneling through a UNC (Niagara R2) or ENC (Niagara G3) to an ASD bus using XPSI, communication timeout errors occur.

• PSI/XPSI software (any version)
• UNC (R2) or ENC (G3) with ASD bus connected
• Serial tunnel client (R2 or G3)

Cause

Delays introduced by the Internet between the PSI/XPSI computer and the remote tunnel client can result in communication timeout errors. These delays affect the ASD bus communication speed.

Resolution

Set the baud rate of PSI/XPSI to 1200 to minimize or eliminate timeout errors:

1. Open PSI/XPSI software.
2. Navigate to Site Setup Configuration.
3. Set Baud Rate = 1200 as recommended in the TAC I/A Series Enhanced ASD Driver Engineering Guide (F-27429, Chapter 5, Table 5.1).
