Sigma and SigmaX - Network connections

Issue

When using SigmaX to unlock Sigma, the PC ID of the server machine may change, preventing clients from connecting.

Cause

Modern PCs often have multiple network ports. When SigmaX is used to unlock Sigma, the PC ID may change if a different network port is used for the main connection. This typically occurs when switching between wired and wireless connections.

Resolution

To prevent the PC ID from changing:

1. Ensure the PC is connected via a wired Local Area Connection (LAN) when installing SigmaX. This connection will be used to generate the PC ID.

2. Set the wired LAN as the primary network connection:

   • Open:
     Control Panel > Network Connections > Advanced > Advanced Settings
   • In the Adapters and Bindings tab, use the up/down arrows to move the Local Area Connection to the top of the list.

3. Once set, you can safely use a wireless connection without affecting the PC ID.
