Niagara R2 UNC Station Fails to Start – Missing Vlon Module

Issue

A Niagara R2 UNC station fails to start and displays the following error in the Standard Output Window:

FATAL: cannot boot station from sns 
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: tridiumx.vlon.VlonService

Cause

The station requires the Vlon service, but the Vlon module is not installed in the UNC.

Resolution

1. Install the Vlon Module into the UNC

   • Use Admin Tool to connect to the UNC.
   • Navigate to the Installation tab and click Installation Wizard.
   • In the Select Distribution Directory dialog, highlight emb and click Install.
   • In the Niagara Remote Installation dialog, select Configure Modules Only and click Next.
   • In the Configure Modules dialog, select the Vlon module by checking the Upgrade/Add column.
   • Click Next when finished.
   • On the Database Backup dialog, leave the red check mark next to the station database name and click Next.
   • Enter the station username and password when prompted.
   • In the Niagara License dialog, click Finish.

2. Restart the UNC after installation is complete.
