Issue
In Niagara R2, UNC does not archive alarms or logs to the Enterprise Server. The Enterprise Server’s Standard Output Window displays the following error:
ERROR: LogService.archive: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Database not connected!
Additionally, the UNC Standard Output Window shows:
tridium.datax.net.DxRemoteException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Database not connected!

Cause
Resolution
Attempt to recover the Cloudscape database. If recovery fails, delete or rename the database folder to allow automatic recreation.
Steps to Recover Database:
- Stop the Enterprise Server station.
- Open the Niagara console.
- At the prompt, type:
dbadmin "station name" recover - Restart the station and verify connectivity.
If Recovery Fails:
- Stop the station.
- Locate the
appfolder under the station directory. - Delete or rename the folder (e.g., add
.oldsuffix). - Restart the station.
- The Cloudscape database will be automatically re-created.
- Confirm the database status shows “is connected.”
