Issue
- MSDE Not Installing on a Windows 2000 Professional PC
- It gets to 98% and then quits without installing anything
Environment
- MSDE
- Windows 2000 Professional
Cause
Microsoft network printer sharing settings are stopping the installation from completing.
Resolution
- Open up My Network PlacesPrinter
- Go to Network and Dial up Connections
- Go to Local Area Connection
- Select the General Tab
- Uncheck the Files and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
- Retry the install again.

Once the software is installed, go back and check that box again so that Crystal Reports will run and print to a printer.
