How to connect a Modbus TCP device to the IC3-MODBUS controller.

Cause

The Modbus device uses a TCP/IP interface instead of traditional RS-232 or RS-485 serial communication.

Resolution

To establish communication between the IC3-MODBUS controller and a Modbus TCP device:

1. Single IP Connection
   The IC3-MODBUS controller requires only one IP connection. This connection supports both:

   • The Sigma interface
   • The Modbus TCP interface

2. Network Configuration
   The Modbus TCP device must also be connected to the same IP network as the IC3-MODBUS controller.

3. IP Address Mapping

   • The IP addresses of both the Modbus controllers and the Modbus TCP devices must be defined.
   • These mappings are configured in the gateway.txt file located in the Sigma system.
