Issue

Unable to access a remote BACnet network from a computer over the Internet when using a Niagara R2 UNC.

Environment

• Niagara R2 UNC
• BACnet network

Cause

The Niagara R2 UNC is not configured as a BACnet Broadcast Management Device (BBMD), which is required for BACnet communication across IP subnets.

Resolution

• Configure the Niagara R2 UNC as a BBMD device.
• In the Commissioning Tool, set up communications so that the computer accesses the remote BACnet network using the IP address of the UNC configured as BBMD.
• Ensure proper firewall and routing settings to allow BACnet/IP traffic between the remote computer and the UNC.
