Connection of Magelis HMI3GU to Quantum PLC (140CPU11303) using TSXCUSBMBP

I am planning to upgrade the HMI (from XBTF024510 to HMI3GU Magelis).

Communication protocol between the HMI and the Quantum at the moment is Modbus Plus. I am trying to use the same protocol with HMI3GU using the gateway TSXCUSBMBP.

Is there any cable recommended to connect the TSXCUSBMBP to the Quantum PLC using the Modbus Plus or I have to comply with Modbus Plus Specs using :

- 990NAD21110/30 or 990NAD21810/30

- 990NAD23000

I will have to replace the existing connection because existing HMI panel use a female connector whereas the TSXCUSBMBP uses a male connector. Or a normal male to female connector could be used for that purpose without any risk for the communication.

Modbus Plus is carried on pins 1 and 2 of the DB9 with the shield carrying on pin 3. I would think you could probably get away with a straight through gender changer adapter provided it is not swapping any pins (1-1, 2-2 etc).

A normal db9 cable probably wouldn't cut it so i would suggest in the case you cant get hold of a gender changer, just cut the connector off the existing cable and solder on a new DB9 (assuming you can remove the whole cable to do the surgery or turn the network off).

This link shows an RJ45 tap to DB9 connection, but the important part is the pinout of the DB9 at the bottom.
