Citect SCADA 2018- Backup with Alarm and Trend Logs

Dear Team,

We have one site running with Citect 2018 SCADA System. We would like to take the SCADA Backup with all its Trend and Alarm Log History so that we can use the same backup in our factory to test/modify and we would also like to see the Alarms and Trends logged in the SCADA Runtime to configure and test some filtering options.

We took the backup but logs are not available. While searching I came across a FAQ mentioning that we can not restore Alarm Logs in Citect Runtime but we can see them externally in Text/CSV file.

How we can manually backup alarm and trend files periodically. What is the procedure to backup alarm...

Hi Oatech,
* Citect Trends store the native file paths in .hst files. Therefore, when you relocate the trends (.001...999) to another PC, you need to ensure it is placed into same directory in order for them to appear in the target system.
* Log files are named in the format "YYYYMMDD.TXT" and reside in the Citect SCADA DATA directory. The first line of an alarm log will list the log format used, and each alarm log entry will reside on subsequent separate lines. Alarms are logged in the order they are received, except for time-stamped alarms, which are stored in the log relevant to the date of the alarm, which may not be the current date. Therefore, when retrieving alarm log records, you should sort the results appropriately.
* Another option is to log alarms to SQL
* For best result for logging Alarms & Events and Trends is to use a Historian. This will remove the complexities of file handling and allow for better reporting capability with a database.

As you have told

Also we have Historian with Citect_Connector and working fine for trend tags. However, though we have activated Historize option for alarms, it is not saving in Historian.

Please help me with solution.
