Citect 2018 - The user must have access to the server password to run as part of the trusted domain.

Hi all,

We are developing a scada with Citect 2018. We have problems starting the services (alarms, trends, ioserver) of the Citect 2018 scada. First, I describe the working scenario:

  • On a Windows 10 installation of Citect 2018 along with the patch Citect_SCADA_2018_R2_Update_23_(Dec_14_2021)
  • It's a single team. There are no redundant systems or nodes, a single computer as scada

We finish the installation, we restart. We make sure that the local Windows user (which is administrator) belongs to the Windows groups Citect.Engineers, etc.

We want to start the sample projects. To start the example project ExampleSA, it tells us that it has to start the Citect Computer Setup Wizard.

In the step "Server authentication" we indicate a password. But at the end it shows us the following error: "Storing security credentials failed. Setup Wizard cannot complete."

We've tried multiple ways, including starting Citect with admin privileges, but no way to get them stored.

On the other hand, if we want to start the project, the following error occurs: "The user must have access to the server password to run as part of the trusted domain."

And if we access the Configurator tool, it is not able to store the credentials. At the end of the installation, it shows us the Configurator tool but it does not allow us to store the credentials, it returns the error: "The settings file could not be saved."

Any help is welcome. Thanks!

Hello,

I had similar issue on PlantSCADA 2020 R2 version in a client machine. I ran Plant SCADA Runtime as 'Administrator' on the client machine, when a client user is logged in and the problem was resolved. Client users do not necessarily have Administrative rights, but you need to run the Runtime as administrator to get away from this error.

regards

Amid

Hello

Have someone find the solution for this problem?

I get the same problem after installing hotfix file patch 33.

Thanks

I had similar issue with Citect SCADA 2018 R2 update 14.

If you installed Citect SCADA under Domain environment, you may have trouble to setup System Management Server. Since my system already System Management Server configured ( I guess the original setup was under workgroup and later on joined a domain), when I setup new client under domain environment, I choose not to run configurator. Then I can supplied the server password using a Citect.Engineers account under setup wizard. Then it seems it works for other users who are Citect.LocalUsers but not Citect.Engineers.

Suggestions

1. If Citect is installed under Domain context, do not run Configurator. Add server password using computer setup wizard.

Hi All,

I'm having the same issue as Manzaneque.

Is there a solution on how to resolve this issue?

So finally I managed to get this resolved.

AVEVA Support Article 000033416 says,

ENVIRONMENT

Applies to:

  • Citect SCADA 2018 Update 37
  • Citect SCADA 2018R2 Update 23 onwards.
  • Plant SCADA 2020R2 v8.3 Update 1 onwards

RESOLUTION

The version updates mentioned above have a pre-requisite of Platform Common Services 4.6.2 (PCS).

In later versions of Plant SCADA (I think 2023 and later) the Monthly Update installer includes a prerequisite check and installs them if required. For older versions you need to read the GCS website closely when downloading the patch, to ensure you also download and install any pre-requisites required.
