I need operating manual for this. I got one, I think its new, but the instructions on the back for the dip switch are backwards
It says for noisy line move #1 to up on position, but the switch is marked for up off and down on. and they are all in the up position. Should I move them all down?
tks, pa
PS: I used "ask apc " and I get no response. It does not even ask for my email, but says I will get a response.

So going by the first few numbers *9506*, *95* refers to 1995 and *06* refers to the 6th week of that year.
So this unit is from mid February of 1995, so about 14 years old! I would probably look into our TradeUPS program and trade that unit in towards it's new counterpart, the SUA750RM.

paulmars,
Do you have the full model number and/or part description of this '600RM'? There should be a white label that will have the exact model # and serial #. If you can provide that we can help in alot more detail.

Paulmars,
Actually I was able to find a manual for the product that I think you have. I'm attaching the manual for the AP600, which is a legacy SmartUPS product.
This manual is for the non-rackmount version, but all information should be applicable. I am unable to locate the RM version of the manual in any of our legacy databases.
If you are still confused about the orientation of the dip switches, try performing a test with Switch 3 which disables the first 30 seconds of on-battery alarm. Then force the unit to battery to find out whether that switch is on or off. Once you confirm, the rest of the dip switches will follow that orientation.
Let me know if you need any more help.

Paulmars,
I'm pretty sure that must refer to the AP600RM, also known as the APC SmartUPS 600RM.
The manual posted should be accurate for your unit.

Thanks, according to that pdf all 4 switches should be off. I think the diagram below the switches on my unit is correct pointing up for off and down for on. However the instructions printed on the back of the unit show on being up. Either way, I think the unit is toast. I have it plugged in and nothing I plug into the sockets on the unit work. If I press the on or test buttons on the front, nothing happens. Unplugging the unit triggers no alarm.

Paulmars,
Yeah, it sounds like the unit is bad. More than likely a bad battery, as these units have not been manufactured in a very long time. My guess would be sometime in the 1990's, but the serial number would help with that determination. Typical lifetime of a battery is 3-5 years, and lifetime of the UPS usually around 10 years maximum.
The replacement for the AP600RM is now a SUA750RM, if you are interested.
