I recently pruchased a used XS 1500 without batteries. This UPS did come with the wiring harness for the batteries and I have purchased replacement batteries but I need to know if I hook up the 2 batteries in series or parallel. (ie positive to positive - negative to negative. or positive to negative - negative to positive)? Please help with this Thanks

I have the XR1300 LCD and from the PDF manual they seem to use a similar battery. Maybe this will give you an idea. (see attachment).

Hello,
The two batteries are nothing alike. One uses a grey plastic anderson connector to attach to the UPS. The XS LCD uses two batteries which have terminals on them to be connected to the UPS. Also, the LCD battery is currently a prototype and not released, therefore, it wouldn't be a used XS.

12v x 2 in series, 24V DC.
BTW, if the UPS appears ~2 years or less you should call technical support with serial # anyways. If it's within two years, the entire thing is warrantied, including the battery.
After two years, there's no warranty to become void, so it really doesn't matter if you use APC-MGE Genuine or not. Although, you can assure consistent quality if you get the OEM.
If you have large number of UPSs to service using a third party supplier carefully screened for quality can save you a bundle. The price of lead has skyrocketed and it's worth around $1.15/lbs now, so If you have large enough quantity, you may even be able to find a contractor who'll buy your used batteries.
