Hello
I have a APC LS 700 and the thing is beeping every minute indicating battery needs replacement. According to the manual the thing should only beep once every 5 hours if battery replacement is needed. It is only 2 years old and I would like to disable this annoying sound until I can find a place that sells batteries.
BTW does anyone know a place in western Canada that would sell these batteries ?
thanks

If it's a regular chirp type noise you always hear from the unit, you may want to check the battery's connection. That model can sense if the battery is disconnected and will notify you until it senses the battery actually connected. If the battery is extremely weak, the UPS may consider it "disconnected".
The others are right though about the "replace battery" beeping. It should be rapid beeping for 1 full minute every 5 hours. Anything else would indicate some other issue.

The alarm for a failed selftest (bad battery) is 30 seconds of constant, rapid beeping every 5 hours. If your UPS is doing something else, it may be an inidication of some other condition. Are there any LEDs lit on your UPS? Does it output power? If you are using PowerChute software, you may be able to get more detail on your UPS's condition.
If it is just a bad battery alarm, the only way to stop it would to have the battery replaced, which would cause a selftest to pass, and clear the condition. It may be easier for you to order a battery for your UPS online through a canadian reseller. If you need help finding one, you can actually shop for the battery on the APC website (http://www.apc.com), and choose to either purchase the battery from APC directly, or select the option to purchase the battery through an online reseller. These options are available on your shopping cart screen on the APC website.
Your particular UPS uses the battery part number RBC17.
