Hi
I purchased the Back-UPS Pro 1500VA Battery Back-Up System Model : BN1500M2 less then a year ago in April as a matter of fact from Best Buy and it just attempted to perform it's weekly self test and for some reason failed it and started screeching I reseeded the battery tried rebooting turned the unit off and back on it continued screeching I then turned it off and back on again and then it came on normally
I went to try and do another self test .. it failed and started screeching I rebooted still screeching rebooted again it booted fine
At this point I'm afraid to try a self test
Since this unit is less then a year old Anyone have any ideas or suggestions

You certainly can store the batteries in a closet so long as it does not become excessively hot or cold in there.
If the batteries are to be stored for more than six months, they should be charged every six months or so.

Hi Chad,
Can you please try to braindead the UPS. To do this please follow the steps below:
1: Disconnect any attached load.
2: Unplug the UPS from the wall socket.
3: Disconnect the UPS' internal battery.
4: Push and hold the ""On"" button on the UPS for 5 seconds
5: Reconnect internal battery.
6: Plug UPS in to known good power source.
7: Turn UPS on.
Can you also provide the serial number of the UPS?
Regards,
Tom

Will try.
Thanks
The serial number you asked for 3B1743X09436
Should I try running a self test after those steps?

Ok Well apparently since it passed the self test after your suggestion Thomas then failed again 20 mins later that would make the problem intermittent I had to go to Best Buy on Thanksgiving and get a new one.. I must have a death wish going there today..
I will be contacting APC Customer service about a replacement since the unit has a 3yr warranty and it only lasted 7 months
Hope they are open on Black Friday

I have received new batteries for my previous unit
Is there a proper way to store these batteries till I get them installed or is it okay to put them in the closet?
