When I try to execute a test of the XS 900 system from the installed software,
the unit switches to battery and then when returning to line it shuts down the computer.
The same happens when I unplug the unit
Had a similar problem with a BX1300LCD-CN Back-UPS which was replaced by the reseller.
The computer has an ASUS P6T Deluxe Motherboard.

Michel,
If Antec tells you that a pure sine wave UPS is needed then the current unit that you have would not work since if it goes into battery it provides a step approximated sine wave. Unfortunately, if this is the case your power supply does not like a step approximated sine wave. Our Smart-UPS product line produces a pure sine wave when it goes to battery, you can check them here -- [http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=165]

Michel,
Let me collect some more information from you to understand what is going on with the UPS..
What lights are on the front of the XS 900 UPS after the self test? What are the other equipment plugged into the battery backup outlets? Is the Computer only shutting down or all the equipment plugged into the outlets are shutting down when it transfers to online?
Is the BX1300LCD-CN UPS working fine? If yes, could you please connect the Computer(ASUS P6T Deluxe Motherboard) to the BX1300LCD UPS and check if it works fine with it when it transfers from on battery to online?

1 - After the end of the self test the light is green
2 - the only other equipment connected in the outlet is is my Samsung Monitor
3 - the computer is crashing so the monitor goes black before the rebooting starts
4- I had exactly the similar problem with the BX1300LCD-CN UPS which was returned and exchanged for the XS 900

Michel,
I suspect that the Computer Power Supply is not handling the UPS transfer time which it takes to transfer from online to on batter or on battery to online. What is the type of the Power Supply? Is it Power Factor Corrected supply? Could you please provide the Power supply specification/power consumption?
Do you have any other Computer which is branded? If so, could you please test it with the UPS and see if it supports the other computer? This will help us to determine if the issue lies with the Computer in question or the UPS.

1 -I have no idea about the type of the Power Supply; the only information I could gather from the P6T User Guide is that it has APM (Advanced Power Management).
2 - I have no other computer to test the UPS

hmm...My suspicious is that the Power Supply/Computer in question has some issues as it had the same problem with BX1500LCD.
If it is possible for you to contact the Power Supply manufacturer to find out its specification, and consult if there is any issue with it.

The only reply I received from Antec :
"Have you tried using a UPS that uses pure sine wave? Since our power supplies have Active PFC, it is best to use pure sine wave UPS".
What do you think?
