XS 1300 (BX1300LCD) battery died but without warning.

Around 3 years ago I got a BX1300LCD and been working fine. Normally over the course of two years I'd turn it off when not in use however when I added a NAS to it I left it running continuously. In the last few months it's been making a hissing noise every thirty seconds and the backup held somewhat well (at a 50 watt load lasted an hour).

I don't think it's been calibrated because it always showed my main PC with only 1 bar on the load and with 20 minutes remaining on battery. So last week it's been hissing nearly continuously so I went ahead and turned off the laptop and NAS and proceeded to test it with my desktop. Instantly failed with F01, battery overload and when I inspected the battery my best guess is that one cell failed and 'good' cell overcharged causing it to leak a little on the top.

With all that said, the UPS appears to be fine. I'm thinking of just replacing the battery because I'm not really in the mindset to do a 2 month burn-in.

Edit: I meant to ask "Is the UPS still OK?"

Most likely one of the batteries\cells went bad causing the ups to think the batteries are discharged and it overcharged the good battery\cell

So Your Ups Is Most Likely Fine ( Sometime You Will Get A Battery That Leaks )

I'm able to remove the battery with no problem and the acid leak is relatively minor. It's just enough to where the cap on the one battery is raised and there is a 3/4 in. white line around the edge of the battery.

The question I'm asking is that is something like this expected due to the nature of having two SLA cells or is the UPS faulty.
