I've got an SSD boot drive now and am interested in turning off hybrid sleep to reduce the writes to the SSD. However, I don't want to lose data if power is lost while the machine is in regular sleep. So I'm wondering if Powerchute will wake a PC from regular sleep in order to hibernate it if there is a power outage. I have the BX1500G and am running Windows 7 x64 SP1 and Powerchute Personal 3.0.

Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work right. Please see the new thread, "BX1500G Misbehavior When Power Is Restored".

Hi timj, when the ups goes to battery it should wake up your computer from a sleep state (which I confirmed today by testing on one of our setups today). However there is no way for the PCPE 3.0 software to put the ups into a hibernate mode (it only has the ability to gracefully shutdown the computer). Hope this helps

Thanks, it does help. It would seem that the UPS will wake the PC, which will then do whatever it is configured to do when the UPS battery is about to run out, which by default will be to hibernate. If the power is restored before that happens, it should return to sleep on its usual schedule. Sounds good to me!
