Wait for self-test before turning pc on?

Do I have to wait for the self-test to finish before turning on my PC or other devices?

Then, what is the difference between the self-test after just turning the ups on and the self-test through the PowerChute?

Both procedure does the same thing, there are cases wherien the battery is really bad that it drops the load during the self-test.

If both process are the same, why do you advise to wait after turning the ups on?

Ordinarily the weekly self-test will detect a bad battery two weeks or more before it fails. At that point the UPS will beep until the battery is replaced. If the battery is not replaced, it will eventually fail and at this point doing a self-test may drop the load.

If the UPS is off, your loads are also off so you might as well wait for the self-test to complete. Especially if the UPS has been off for several weeks during which the UPS will not be able to test the battery. And even more so if the UPS is unplugged or battery removed. On the other hand, these are remote risks so if you have a reason to turn your devices on during the self-test, you could do that too.
