When I wake my system up from hybrid sleep mode, I get a tray bubble message for a few seconds stating that the software is unable to communicate with the battery backup.
My OS is Vista x64 Home Premium.
The UPS and PowerChute data are as follows:
Model: Back-UPS ES 750
Serial number: 5B0748T14684
Firmware revision: 819.z3.D
Software version: PowerChute Personal Edition 2.1.1
Out of curiosity, I tried hibernation, and the same thing happens. PowerChute should be able to cope with hybrid sleep as this combines the advantages of hibernation (backup) and sleep (speed).
PowerChute and the UPS appear to be working fine except for this issue.
Is this a known problem and can we expect a fix?
Thanks,
-Todd

Todd,
Since Microsoft decided to "eliminate" use of Hibernate, the workaround that's been posted seems to resolve the problem. It's in Microsoft's website.
The same problem persists if you utilize sleep mode on XP. Because sleep mode powers off all USB Interface Devices, the Software will report communication loss. This will occur upon restart of the machine out of sleep mode, and either need to disconnect/reconnect the USB cable, or disable and then enable the USB HID.

What specific Microsoft workaround are yor referring to?
Also, is the Vista PowerChute supposed to be completely compatible with 64-bit Vista?
