Urgently suggest an ups for my pc

Hi,

I'm from India.

Suggest a suitable ups for my pc which has Apc parachute software support.

Unfortunately APC website doesnt list which of its ups support Apc parachute software.

**I need a list of all UPS available for India which supports Apc parachute software  in range of 600va - 1000va.

The easiest way to do this will be to use apc.com and set your country to India and go from there in browsing the Back-UPS products or even just UPSs in general from http://www.apc.com/products/category.cfm?id=13.  It may be also helpful if you state your requirements for the UPS beyond what you have i.e. do you need a pure sinewave output, how much runtime on battery do you need, do you need a UPS with an LCD screen, etc. And do you need PowerChute Personal Edition or are you saying you want PowerChute Business Edition.

This APC UPS selector also may help you -> http://www.apc.com/tools/ups_selector/

Majority of Back-UPS products, for example, support PowerChute software unless otherwise specified saying no communications. If you see some models using either the apc.com website set to India or the UPS selector then I can try to look into them. We don't have a list either, especially since most of us are in North America here, but the descriptions when you're browsing will usually indicate if it comes with a data cable/PowerChute.

If this is not helpful or something you want to do then I'd suggest you contact your local sales support to see what they can recommend specific to India.

Here is config of my pc--

Amd fx 8320GA-990FXA-UD5 (rev. 3.1)
8gb corsair xms3 ram
Sseasonic 520w psu
Amd 7850 gpu
22in ips dell monitor
5 sata harddrives
2.1 speakers
usb keyboard/mouse

So I need a UPS just for my computer supporting PowerChute Personal Edition.

APC chat is never ever available even though I tried to connect them 24*7 so its pretty sad.

Local sales support here is not fairly knowledgeable regarding any software support etc.

I will check in India to see if someone can help support you with this. I just don't have enough knowledge regarding the India UPS models to make a good recommendation.

Is your computer the only device that you intend to provide battery backup for?

How much time do you require the backup to power your system for?

Even without answers to those 2 questions, I would suggest that you require a minimum Back-UPS Pro 1000.

The India site for APC shows 2 options for the normal Back-UPS model, 700VA and 800VA.  12 and 13 minutes of run-time respectively at only 200W and only 3 minutes on either unit at 400W.

Looking at the Back-UPS Pro models (1000VA and 1500VA), you more that double your run-time at 200W (28 minutes) and quadruple it at 400W (12 minutes). Also, both those models have the option of adding an external battery pack to increase run-time.

Yes I mentioned already that only my computer and esp. only the monitor and smps/cabinet will be using the ups.

Backup time of even 2-5 mins is sufficient for me.

Many people suggested me the 700va model as it fits in my budget as well.

I dont know how o convert Watt to Va values hence unable to decide.

If you guys can help me with that then may be I can decide on something.

APC has done the math for you already regarding watts vs VA. The 700VA model has a capacity of 420W, and while that is typically sufficient for a desktop computer you may end up with a fairly short runtime if the computer is working especially hard.

Personally I have a 550VA (330W) unit for my Intel core i5 system (dual 22" monitors), and a 1000VA (600W) unit for my Intel core i7 system (dual 27" monitors).

Heck, buy the 700VA and if it ends up being insufficient, sell it and use that money towards a beefier unit.

Hi Jon,

If you think the ups is in perfect condition, then you can use the Ups, but ensure the new batteries are of 9 AH 12 V (Qty 2).

You need to purchase the RJ45 to USB cable from the Ups delaer, where they will be having the cable.

Please let me know if any other information is required.

Thanks.

But what I studied is that APC uses RJ50 and not RJ45. And may have to order them from some online shop.

Also given the 7yr old health I hope apart from batteries, rest of the ups components like the inside circuitry has a long life or do I need to worry about it???
