hi,

let us try to answer some of your questions if I understand them correctly.

1.) You have a noisy fan? Which model UPS is this? The battery comes on when the UPS is on battery, the internal temperature is high, when the load is high, and when the UPS is charging. If you have a noisy a fan, you can make sure theres nothing stuck in it or we'd have to see if its a noisy bearing or something.

2.) I am not sure what you are talking about. Home office types of UPSs are not that beefy since they are meant to support small loads.

3.) Home and Office UPSs have very small battery chargers designed to charge the batteries they come with - such as 7AH batteries. It is not supported to use a third party battery and they are not designed to do so. Home Office UPSs do not support 3 hours of runtime because it'd be very expensive and the batteries would be huge compared to the UPS size.

Laser printers draw a lot of power upon warming up, it can overload a UPS of 1000 or even 1500VA just because of the huge power draw. It is not recommend to plug a laser printer into a UPS because of this reason.

Hope this helps!
