We finally got a rack-mount Smart UPS, and I need to uninstall the personal edition. However, when I attempt to remove it from "Add/Remove Programs", I get the following error right away:

The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched.
No such interface supported
==================================
Any ideas on how I can remove that software?
Any assistance is much appreciated!

I suggest that you contact our APC Technical Support Team so that they can guide you on manually removing PCPE on your system.

This pertains to the InstallShield files within windows have been moved out of their default location, are corrupted, or missing entirely.
Please check the following Microsoft Knowledge Base for more information on this issue:

This issue also sometimes crops up with you have COM/DCOM permissions set incorrectly or if you are not working with admin privileges.
You can also call into our APC Tech Support and they will guide you through the manual removal of PCPE via the Windows Registry.

I have upgraded my UPS to a SmartUPS 2200 and would like to load up PC Business Edition. I unfortunately loaded, before reading the posts here, PE 1.4 and it will not remove itself. From Add / Remove Programs I receive the PE setup window and proceed to remove, APC PE setup starts up, but then I get an Unhandled Exception Error and a message that Setup will not terminate leaving PE on my server. Please help and thank you.
