I've periodically had trouble getting to the configuration page for the network enabled APC Back-UPS HS 500.
I could sometimes manage to get it to load by manually typing in the URL for the configuration page to remove the junk at the end since the hyperlink included in the interface looks strange: http://****MyDynamicDNS*****/CFG.CGI%EF%BF%BD - the %EF%BF%BD portion renders as a black diamond with a white question mark in it in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. I think updates to these browsers have broken the ancient coding on the HS-500.
When I type in the URL manually I can see the configuration options, though they're not filled in, and though I can submit changes they don't take. Each browser handles the HS-500 slightly differently. Sometimes I get "Not found." displayed with the interface ribbon displayed on top.
Luckily, using Mobile Safari on iOS still let's me get to the configuration page.
I don't have an exclamation point in my username or password, I've tried this accessing the device both locally and remotely.
Does anyone have advice on changing the configuration through a regular browser?
Thank you!
According to the device:
Firmware revision: l1
Web firmware revision: l4

i just know the thing was originally designed for use with IE and you do get "Not Found" when using a lot of different browsers. I know it is ridiculous but i am not sure if it will change. Does it work sometimes in firefox, chrome or safari? I didn't think it worked at all to be honest with you.

Thanks for responding. As I said, I can get the Config tab to work with Mobile Safari, but I'm looking for a better and reliable way to change the device's settings. Maybe someone has experience with changing the settings - the commands all seem to be based on the URL anyway.
