I'm considering the UTS10BI as my main generator transfer switch, and I'm wondering whether:
- APC has a successor to the current product line in the works (I understand this is a sensitive question that may not be answerable).
- APC is interested in feedback on possible software-based feature additions for the current line.
- Whether the current line of products is able to have firmware updated to implement such features.
What I consider to be the missing features are not necessarily a deal breaker at this point, but if the panel is non-upgradeable it makes the decision more critical.
Thanks

OK thanks.
Doesn't surprise me it's low volume, though- its really, really hard to find. Wonder if they'd sell well @ Lowes or HD. Compared with the low-end manual switches the price is certainly right.

Agreed on all of your points. This is a fantastic unit for the price! The only thing it is lacking are possibly a couple of 30 to 50 amp 240vac circuits and some type of ethernet based management platform similar to that of the UPS systems that APC is selling. A higher wattage on the UPS input would be a great bonus as well.
I currently have a UTS10 and am using a 7000watt inverter/battery system on input 1 and an APC SMARTUPS3000RM on the UPS input for clean power. My generator is just to run the inverter/battery charger when the public util is down long enough for the batterys to drain. Intend to add some solar PV to the system sometime down the road.
The only question I have on the system: Since I am using a large 240VAC ups (inverter and deep cycle batteries) as the primary input source, is there a way to bypass the 5 second lag on switching to backup power as the inverter is always available?
Too bad there isn't more support behind this product. It is a great platform with tons of potential to build on.
