USB Cable 940-0127E vs 940-0127A/B

Dear APC Team,

I have couple of questions regarding the cable 940-0127E FCI.

1. Is that simple or smart cable?

2. What is the difference between 940-0127E and 940-0127A/B cable?

3. What means FCI at the end of the P/N?

4. Is that a pure USB cabe or it's RS232 cable with USB connector?

I'm using UPS BR550GI.

Hi,

What I know is:

• Some places reference this as a simple cable but I think it has both simple/smart applications. For this UPS, it is a smart cable/communication - meaning two way communication between UPS and the computer (or whatever you connect it to). Simple is what we call a one way communication cable - from the UPS to something else. This application is smart in the sense you can issue commands, read information, change settings, etc.
• We change the letter on the cables to identify the revision. When we change it, it is usually because we changed a connector, vendor we use, color, etc. If the part number remains the same, then it has the same functionality.
• FCI is the vendor that makes the cables. As a general strategy, many of our parts/cables are sourced from more than one vendor and we ensure the functionality remains the same, in case there is a problem sourcing parts from a single vendor.
• This is a standard USB cable with a keyed RJ-45 connection
