UPSCAPO only logs for a few hours

Hello, I have an APC Easy UPS SMV SMV1500CAI and would like to generate log files.

According to Schneider, it's not possible to install a network management board in the UPS, and I was recommended the "UPSCAPO" software.

Everything works fine, but the log files suddenly stop a few hours after starting the software.

UPSCAPO continues to run, and no errors are visible.

Only, no logs are being written.

Do you know this phenomenon? I use Server 2022.

Thanks and regards Unreal

edit: The Logs stopped at 2025.04.17 22:54:40, although I didn't do anything

Change the interval to every 60 seconds and report back the results. Lastly, insure all power save / energy management is disabled on the USB port. ☝️

Hi, Thank you very much! Unfortunately, this hasn't worked yet. After changing the settings, the log ran from: 7:52 PM to 10:31 PM = 2 hours, 39 minutes Before (old settings): 8:25 PM to 10:54 PM = 2 hours, 39 minutes So exactly the same length. The only USB power saving settings I found in Windows were the following (sorry, screenshot in German): "Setting for selective USB power saving." I've now disabled this when plugged in. As I said: Unfortunately, to no avail 😞 Best regards

Hi, I've been testing a few things again. What did make an improvement was running the UPSCAPO service under a different account (as a domain admin for testing purposes). It's been running smoothly for 8 hours now. By the way, I'm currently using version 3.2.5 because it's still available on the APC website. I've also found a version 3.2.6. However, I'm not sure if you can still leave the power saving settings to Windows, or if UPSCAPO is forced to do it in this version... Regards, Unreal

Update: After a few (many) hours, it crashed again. Maybe I'll try version 3.2.6.

Please disable (ALL) power saving / energy star settings on this system as a validation test.

If the system is set to Suspend, Hibernate, Sleep, turn this off too. Report back the results after doing so along with replacing the USB Data Cable.

Hi! I'll take a look at everything. The server is a Hyper-V host, though. I can't simply reboot or anything like that. I'll check Control Panel/Energy Settings again to see if I can disable anything there, and I'll try changing the cable.

I suggest you install the same software on a bare metal machine and see what the results are and report back the same.

You may very well see the problem only exists in the VM system.

Hi!

This is not a VM.

Its a Hyper-V Host.
