Brand new, bought at costco. Has worked for past 2mo, but 1wk ago unit shut down while I was out of town for the week. Going by the recording schedule from my satellite receiver, unit shut down the night I left. I powered it back on thinking there was an outage while I was away and it drained the battery, seemed to work fine. Woke up this morning and it was off again. Powered it up and looked at display, both load and battery indicator are empty. Battery replacement indicator is not displayed.

Went straight to the connections and that was apparently the problem. Thx for the diagnosis and treatment.

is the UPS still providing output power even though it turned off by itself? do you still have items plugged into it? is the battery indicator empty and solid or is it flashing empty? when you turned the unit back on the first time it went off, does the UPS do a self test (go to battery for ~20 seconds)?

okay so while the battery indicator is flashing, if you plug a non critical piece of equipment does the UPS turn off?
a flashing empty battery icon indicates the battery is disconnected. if the UPS turns off on the above test, then i would double check the battery connections and reseat them. you could reseat them first before trying that test.
