Hi all,
I want to buy a Back-UPS RS1200LCD, can you tell me how much power it will use in terms of watt?
How good is the efficiency? It will waste a lot of power?

i think that model is EOL my recomendation will be the new Power Saving Back-UPS Pro Br1300G http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BR1300G
780 Watts / 1300Va 10 connectors, this UPS has a feature that using a master connection will disable the dependant connections, like for example you can connect the CPU, TV, Portable into the master control and the monitor, speakers, DVD, etc into the controlled by master connection and when you turn off any of the master device, the other connection will automatically shutdown and in that way you avoid the "ghost connections"

what are the improvements from the Back-UPS RS series to Power Saving series?
In italy unfortunantly they sell only the 1500VA and 900VA, no 1300VA, definetely too much for what I need.
900VA or 1500VA, no really a smart choice.

ok but is there somewhere where I can see how much UPS will consume?
How much power it will eat to work?

we don't generally list that since it is such a minimal value. if the UPS is completely discharged, it will use a small amount of wattage to charge the battery (27 watts max for 18-24 hours). once that is complete, then the only thing that will suck up any real power would be a fan at ~5 watts and maybe an additional 5-10 watts to power the internal workings of the unit.

thanks for the reply.
Can you tell me please that exact condition where the BR1500GI fan starts?
I want to buy this new UPS now but I haven't understood when the fan starts.
- It starts when battery is on charge
- It starts when UPS is on battery
- It starts when you power on UPS for some hours
Than when?
It will start at certain ambient temperature?
It will start at some particular load?
Thanks.

hmm i would refer to the other thread or if someone else wants to posts, i am not sure. the three things you listed are correct though - on battery, charging the battery, or when internal temperature to the unit gets too hot. i am personally not aware of any other conditions. oh and you're right, when it goes over a certain percentage of load, maybe over 75%.

thanks for the reply...
I really need this info since the UPS will be located near a silent PC in my room,
is there a way to get a reliable answer?
I would know the exact load needed to make the fan start and also know the ambient temperature that make the fan start.
I don't think that I'm asking too much since I'm on the official APC forum ๐
