Hi everyone......I just purchased directly from APC, 2 BE750G Units. I purchased them for one reason only. To give me a few minutes to shut down my equipment during a power failure. I do not plan on using them to put anything to sleep, so I assume I do not need to attach the USB Cable or load any Software. Am I correct? Here is my setup:
SETUP ONE - I want to plug these 4 items into the 5 battery outlets:
1. 2011 iMac i7 Running Lion
2. 1TB Iomega External HDD for Time Machine
3. M-Audio Fast Track Ultra
4. Bose Music Monitor Speakers.
SETUP TWO - Same as above except a different iMac and M-Audio unit
1. 2010 iMac i3 Running Lion
2. 1TB Iomega External HDD for Time Machine
3. M-Audio Fast Track Pro
4. Bose Music Monitor Speakers
With these items in the 4 battery outlets of each of the BE750G Units, am I OK? Thanks.

yes, the USB cable and software is for monitoring the UPS (input voltage, wattage, etc) or graceful unattended shutdown of the device attached. both are optional.
choosing the correct UPS involves checking how much runtime you need, how much power the UPS can output, and if the step approximated sinewave is adequate for your device.
for Macs, to be honest, i hear mixed things. some people say their Mac reboots when the UPS goes to battery (due to step approximated sinewave output, transfer time) and others say it works fine.
here is some info on a step approximated sinewave:
http://nam-en.apc.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1493
besides back UPS, every other UPS outputs a pure sinewave which most server grade equipment and higher may require.
BE750G spec page -> http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BE750G
it can handle 450 watts on output so we'd have to see how much the average draw is on all of that equipment. my best guess though is that inrush current may cause the UPS to overload so you may want to turn things on one at a time at least.
