Routinley, when there is a power outage the TV converter box and the TV go off line. It normally takes 3 to 10 minutes for the SA Explorer box (with its own hard drive) to reconfigure itself.
I am looking for a UPS to prevent these units from going off line.
Does APC have such a UPS ??
Also the TV cable itself is subject to lighting strikes. I had this happen to a previous TV.
In my current three bedroom apartment I have six TV outlets all fed by a single feed line from the outside that is then split out to these room outlets.
The smart thing to do is to protect this single feed line from lighting surges.
Does APC have such a protector against lighting strikes ??

For backing up the SA Explorer there is the AV line at http://apc.com/products/category.cfm?id=15. The J10BLK and J15BLK are the more practical units for the home, though the S types are very nice. These would be the best to provide battery back up. They also have surge suppression for data lines and can be configured from either the front display of through the built in network management card. If your just backing up the one piece of equipment and not the TV as well then you can check that devices amp draw and then size a smaller UPS just for it.
For the lightning strikes I would suggest the PV from the ProtectNet line.

Check those out and let me know if that's what your looking for.
