I have a BP420 connected to an old g4 mac and 19" monitor. While the computer and monitor are powered down, the UPS will occasionally shut itself off... Need to press the power on button to get juice to the ups again. It's happened 2x in 3 months (so not a consistent problem). Why does it do this? Does the battery need replacing?
TIA

Just try putting a small dummy load on it like a lamp and pulling the plug. See if it runs on battery for very long. Odds are it won't and needs a replacement battery if it's old.
It's probably shutting off during it's periodic self-tests when it auto switches to battery to test it.
