Hello, First post. I have two 1500LCD units, XS and RS. Is it best {wisest} to turn the power switch off at night? I've heard conflicting advice on this matter. Some have recommended leaving the power switch on 24/7. Others: turn it off at night - as this will prolong battery life.
What's the general consensus on this matter. Is is best for the unit's longevity to turn it off {at night}?
I neglected to mention: I'm not employing any UPS software.
Thanks ~ james

Kate,
You would normally press the button 1~2 seconds and release it.

Everytime you switch the UPS on it runs the self test, which means it uses a little bit of battery power while the test is in progress so regarding tha battery life, wouldn't this be worse than leaving the unit on 24/7?
I do turn off my UPS almost every night, but when I switch the UPS on the following day I wait for the self test to run first then I turn on my PC. I think it's healthier for the battery.

Hi James, thank you for using APC Forum.
Are you talking about turning off the APC UPS's when not in use? It is safe to turn off the UPS when it is not being used but make sure that it is still plugged in a good power source to keep the battery charging.

Hi JonPro, Yes, I was referring to 'when not in use' {aka: bedtime} ~ james

James,
If that is the case as long as you are not using the UPS it is safe for you to turn the device off.

JonPro, "Safe" - but is it 'healthier' for the UPS unit? ~ james
