Turn off UPS with Computer

At night, after I turn off my computer, I have always turned off the XS 1300. This turns off all the other stuff plugged into it.

I've recently gotten Windows 10 and it takes 45 seconds to fully shut down the computer so I'm stuck there waiting for it in order to turn off the UPS.

Is there a way to get the UPS to power down automatically when the computer is shut down?

Thanks,

Walt

If this is a BX1300G, you could utilize the "Green Functionality" to automatically turn the load off after the computer has been shutdown. In this case, the UPS would remain turned on which is the recommend usage of the unit.

If that UPS have PC connectivity option then you can do automatic shutdown both PC and UPS.

Could you elaborate?

The only software I've found for the unit is Powerchute. That allows the UPS to turn off the computer in the event of a power failure.

I see no way for the UPS to turn itself off if the computer is shut off.

I have also not been able to find any user manual for Powerchute in order to verify any of this.

Yes with Parachute you can set auto shutdown in case of power failure. This will shutdown OS then after some seconds turn off UPS too.

What I did when had that kind of UPS is instead of shutdown I simply disconnect the power to UPS and let it shutdown and turn off UPS auto.

That's an interesting idea. I think I'll plug it in to a remote controlled outlet. Push the off button on the remote and walk away.

Hi,

sorry for the delayed reply. What model UPS do you have and what version of PowerChute have you installed?
