Hello !
I'm happy that I found apc-forum. My problem is, that I've inherited an Apc Symmetra Power Array. We got it about 2 months ago, but we had no cablage to attach it. For two weeks ago we put the cablage and we tried to start it on, but all the time there was a red led 'fault'. There was a message when we entered the menu: 'battery not installed'. What we can do to start it?...... Today we put the main switch down, because of the beep..
More detailed data, I can write tomorrow.....
Thank you....

APC would not recommend recharging battery modules that have an open circuit voltage of 40vDC, as this would constitute irreparable damage to the cells.
If you do wake up the power modules with one good battery installed (all other dead batteries disconnected/removed), you would want to introduce the dead modules one at a time, and allow the UPS to reach at least 90% charge before introducing the next dead module.
As Clarkson correctly stated, this is not recommended as these damaged battery modules are much more likely to experience a more dramatic failure mode, such as thermal runaway induced swelling/venting/leaking.
Battery modules should always be disengaged from the UPS any time the system is not operating normally, as they can otherwise discharge beyond safe levels. See warnings on every SYBATT module.

It means that the batteries under 40 Vdc are not good. They can not be recharged in any way?...

If if you "could" charge the 40v batteries somehow and get the UPS to start I can guarantee you that those batteries at 40v are bad will not support a load so getting the UPS turned on still won't do you any good until you buy fresh batteries.
Save yourself some trouble and take the old batteries to the scrap yard and buy a new battery module and start from there.

Thanks for your help. I have enough reason for buying news batteries. In any case I will contact with APC forum when I'll get the new ones...

What vintage of Symmetra do you have? It sounds like you have something like SYMSTRF.
These UPS Systems require a charged battery be installed before the system will start. You should also at least match the power modules with battery modules. (1battery for 1power module, 2 batteries to 1 power moduule, 3 batteries for 2 power modules, etc.) .

Yes, We have a frame model SYMSTRF3I 380 v/400 v/415 v - 3:1 with 5 battery. It has an additional power array . When we recived, it had a display with number 02. After we tried to power on, it showed an 'E?? ' (Error but I don't remember now the number) , after that the display turned off.

In the main frame there are 4 batteries, in the extended there are 12 batteries. In the extended, the display has nothing, it doesn't light. Yesterday we took out the plug to the main frame and tried to start only the main frame, but it didn't work. Today I measured some batteries from the extended frame and they had only 40 V. I read from the internet that ' Symmetra will not be able to start up if the battery voltage drops below appr. 92 V, if this happens the customer will need a fresh battery >92 V DC in order to wake up the charging circuitry within the Power Modules '...
If I have one battery in good state, are there some procedure to wake up the Main Frame?...
