Software Question - Back-UPS CS 350 & Ativa AT-BU 1200

Hello all,
I am in need of software for monitoring the UPS and shutting down the PCs running Linux. Actually, the OSs are UBUNTU 9.10 (my desktop PC) and CentOS 5 (My very small Web Server - only 6 domains).
I see a choice for Linux in the Software Download pages for PowerChute Business Edition 8.0.1 - Single Node Agent.
Will this software version work for both CentOS (32 bit OS) and UBUNTU (64 bit OS)?
Is there a better choice?
Any advice or pointers are greatly appreciated...

you could look into apcupsd which is a third party software but has the ability to monitor these UPSs. i have also heard of NUT as well.

APC does not have software for use with the Back UPS family on Linux at this time.

i attached the users manual for apcupsd.
