In my home I've an old SmartUPS 700 connected to my PC and it has worked fine for years.
One month ago I've replaced the two batteries and after that something strange happens.
I've a main 220V power switch and when I've finished my job, I switch off my PC then I power off SmartUPS and then I switch off main power switch. UPS main power is no more connected to 220V
Well, starting from this moment, SpartUPS emit a short "beep" every about 10 min. for many hours (about 4-6 hours).
It's very annoying. And during night is terrible :-((
I've tried to disconnect all power cord (220V main power and loads) but nothing change. If I disconnect ups main power, ups 'beep'
UPS is working fine: if it's powered on and I disconnect 220V, my PC still working for about 15 min. without problem.
It's working also serial connection for Linux apcd daemon.
Can I stop my ups "beep" ?

ok, so all the LEDs are off even when the UPS is on? or do you just have the UPS turned off for now since the beeping is annoying?

i dont suppose you noticed any strange LED combinations on the front of the Smart UPS? anything flashing, any red LEDs?
and this only happened after replacing the batteries on the UPS?
in the meantime before we figure out what the issue is, you can try muting the alarm through the software if its possible with APCUPSD. i am not sure since its third party software how to go about doing it.

No strange LED flashing.
All LEDs are off
The problem appears after replacing battery.
Before the UPS was ok.
I try mute sound with APCUPSD tomorrow.

While APCUPSD has the capability to mute some of the audible alerts, I recommend trying to find the source of the problem rather than hiding the symptoms.
I noticed you regularly turn the UPS off. I know APC UPSes are designed to be kept on so they can keep the battery topped up.
