Simple Individual Help

I received a notification that said my battery was due for replacement in December 2024. My screen was also showing " Near End Of Life ". I purchased a new RBC 7 and installed it at the weekend. 48 hours later I am getting "Near End Of Life" messages........ and also that the battery is due for change in July 2025.

My next issue is that under my product details, I have no way to change the battery install date. Surely If I changed it, I should be able to change the date of install. My connection is also not very good, as I cannot run a self test from the website. I am now wondering if I have made a wise choice.

You can install the APC Power Chute software on to a local computer system and connect via USB.

Once installed and connected you can find a tab where you can enter the new battery installation date.

Follow up by manually initiating a self test via Power Chute. Once the test completes let the battery status return to 100% SOC (State of Charge).

Finish by manually initiating a battery calibration with at least 30% attached load to the outputs. Once complete let the system recharge the battery cartridge back to 100% SOC.

Is there any value in loading Power Chute if it is to be discontinued ? My connectivity between my router and UPS has been properly established now (USB did not work) with a CAT 5 cable. I have now managed to do a self test and we are all good, and my SOC is 100%. Be nice to be able to change the date and clear that "Near End Of Life" though.

Incidentally loading Power Chute was the first thing I did after purchasing my UPS several years ago....... with no success.

You’ll need to provide more specific information as to your APC UPS model and connected accessories ie: NMC

Power Chute Personal Edition (PCPE) is perfectly fine to use so long as you accept no updates / feature enhancements.

The web based PCSS replaces PCPE stand alone software if you would like something newer.

In both cases the battery replacement option should be available to use and update with the month / year.

Any enterprise class Smart-UPS with a LCD panel will prompt you to acknowledge / change the battery installation date if and when the battery cable is disconnected and reattached.

Thank you for the response. As it happens shortly after our last exchange I logged back onto the site and the "set battery install date" was highlighted and I was able to make an update, which was then communicated to my UPS and I now see an updated install / renewal date on the LCD panel.
