APC Smart-UPS 2200 no longer being recognised by a Mac

I have a 2011 Smart-UPS 2200 and up until recently if I connected it to my Mac Studio M2 via the USB connection it was recognised as a UPS and assorted power management options then became available. Unfortunately this has stopped working and Apple Support weren't much help.

It appears as a device thus in the USB section of System Information:

However it is not recognised as a UPS in the Power section:

I have an NMC installed which reports the below:

Any ideas as to why the apparently working UPS is no longer being recognised?

On the rear of the unit there is a USP MONITORING PORT next to the USB connection. It's an RJ-50 and I'm not sure if this model should use AP940-0625A cable which is serial, or the 940-0127 USB cable. I don't really see why the latter exists except for be more mechanically secure.

Should I be investigating the use of this port, or is it literally just going to give me the same as the USB port?

Thanks,

Steve

Serial: You will use the AP940-0625A serial cable.

USB: What are the results of using a different USB port directly on the computer?

Drivers: You’ll need to contact Apple Technical Support as to the location of the USB Power driver for your specific Mac OS.

Hi Steve,

You can use the RS-232 -> RJ50 Serial cable to see if there’s a difference in operation. Keep in mind only one serial connection can be used at any given time.

In the interim I would unplug the USB cable, delete the USB driver, reboot. Reconnect the USB cable once the system is up to see if it detects the UPS.

Have you tried the other USB ports if so what are the results?!?

Which “serial” cable? As I highlight in my question there are two and they’re rather different.

Also this is a Mac, not a PC. Can you tell me which driver is involved?

If using different ports the USB section of System Information shows the UPS, but it’s still not recognised as a UPS.
