Shuts down and F06 error

Backup-UPS NS 1500M2 purchased 11/2023 and would shut down at random times. Max load on UPS was about 140W. After diagnosis APC replaced UPS on 5/24 and last night replacement UPS shut down again about 22:00 hrs. No power lost/blip/flickering of lights in home. Did display error  F06.

I also have another NS 1500M2 UPS and NO-ISSUES.

Generally speaking the F06 indicates an internal hardware fault. Specifically it’s a relay fault or what APC calls a (Relay Weld) fault.

If the unit was replaced by APC it was more than likely a refurbished unit. Reach out to APC Technical Support and request another RMA.

In the interim place the working UPS in the same location and power outlet. What happens to the UPS while connected to the outlet?!?

Lastly, it would be very helpful to have the unit connected to a computer system running APC Power Chute software.

Doing so will assist in determining the active faults / error codes present. Once PCPE / PCSS software is in place confirm what the system indicates is the operating state along with the input / output voltage, load current, load power percentage, battery voltage, battery capacity, and whether the unit is in AVR mode.

If the unit is in AVR Mode call out what the input line voltage is and frequency. In APC Power Chute software adjust the sensitivity from normal to low. Adjust the upper & lower transfer voltage to the widest range.

I'll call APC later today, but yesterday we had storms and power was off/on several times for about 5-10 seconds... PC, cable modem, etc., and UPS worked as it should!

Yes, it will operate fine one day and suddenly fail the next! 🤢 The unit is living on borrowed time. ☝️

That’s an unacceptable reply from APC Technical Support. 🤦‍♂️👎 Request the service ticket be escalated to the next support tier for review.
