Only trial and error will prove what can work using your existing hardware. The extended battery pack is a 48 VDC system and APC makes several models in that voltage from SMX, SRT, etc
The problem you’ll run into is if the existing SUA (Anderson) connector will fit the new system. Assuming you can identify which Anderson connector is required and make an adapter to connect the two systems.
Your next problem is knowing what battery identifier circuit is in place on the new UPS system. ☝️🤦♂️
Older APC units you simply entered manually how many extended battery packs were present either through the LCD or Power Chute Software.
The next generation used a simple resistor network to tell the main system how many extended battery packs were in place. This resistor circuit is used in the SMX / SRT model lines.
The following generation uses a combination of resistor and IC to inform the main system how many are connected.
Much larger units have a EEPROM integrated into the battery cartridge and the extended battery enclosure.
