I have the UPS plugged in with nothing running off of it and I tried unplugging it from the wall. The UPS just emits a constant tone until I turn it off and the battery meter goes down to one light. When I have it plugged in and I do the self test with nothing running off of it it does the same thing. The battery meter shows that it's fully charged when plugged in. The battery needs replacing light does not come on at all either. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

okay so before you unplugged it, the voltage, etc was showing up correctly, right? so the UPS was communicating successfully and then you removed AC power from it and no events were recorded besides "communication lost."
as long as it is definitely a constant tone, i'd have to conclude there is something faulty with the unit. 😕 and to not waste time with a battery. if you had a spare one i would say surely try it but dont buy one just to try and i dont even think its the battery causing the issue.

Yes, when the power is cut off to the UPS, the amber "On battery" led comes on, the battery meter drops all the way down to the last one, it starts emitting a constant tone and everything connected to it shuts off.

when the UPS is exhibiting a constant tone, what LEDs do you see on the front panel? you mentioned the battery charge LEDs but do you see anything else?
does it output any power at any point?

The loads powered by battery indicator comes on with an amber colored light. Anything that was plugged into it instantly shuts off when the unit loses power from the wall.

please refer to the chart. just confirm the LEDs if you can but I think understand correctly.
when you do a pull plug test, the on battery LED comes on, the load power goes off, and NO other LEDs are on, not even the load graph.
does it work online (on AC power) at all?

I confirmed and it does seem weird. At first I thought it was the "Too much load connected" led that lit up but it is the one below that which is the "on battery" led. There are no other leds lit up other than the bottom one on the battery meter. Yes, the UPS does work on AC power.
I appreciate the responses.
Edit: I forgot to add. When on AC power, the battery meter is full and the "UPS filtering AC power" led is lit up.

okay..i am still confused because i am not sure what LEDs you are referring to. can you check out my screenshot in my previous post and confirm what LEDs you are talking about via their names.
it sounds like trim LED might be on..

what are you using for load? it sounds like it COULD be a battery but if the battery was that bad, the entire UPS should power off completely, rather than just turning the load off.
another idea would be to attach some software to this - powerchute business edition - and see what the event log reports when this happening. let me know if you can do that and i can give you the information how to hook that up.

Ok. According to your diagram:
When the unit is getting AC power the following led's are on:
On-line led
Battery charge is full
When the unit loses AC power the following led's are on:
On-battery led
Battery charge is depleted
Emits a constant tone
Everything that is plugged into the UPS loses power.

okay when you say battery charge is depleted, does that mean all of the LEDs on that graph are off or is the bottom one on and flashing?
how old are the batteries in this UPS? if the batteries were disconnected the UPS should turn off but if the batteries are extremely low, this could happen but i would expect the UPS to turn off shortly after this happens if that is the case. how long have you let the UPS run while emitting the constant tone?

The bottom one is on but not flashing.
I'm not exactly sure on how old the UPS is. This UPS is at work and I've had it since I started here about a year ago. I believe it's been here at least a few years before I started.
I only let the UPS run about 1 minute at the most when it started making the constant tone.
Do you think it just needs a battery replacement?

Yes, everything looked normal in the powerchute interface.
All I get when I disconnect the power is "communication lost" in the event log.
Unfortunately I don't have another battery around to try it so I guess I'll just trash this unit.
I appreciate the help. Have a good one!

I had my PC and 2 monitors connected to it before. I tried a self test on it with nothing connected and it did the same thing. I'll connect it to my PC with the powerchute software and see what that pulls up.

I connected it but what do I do now. It's the powerchute business edition software.
I unplugged the unit while it was connected to the PC and it did the usual tone and leds. The event log just says communication lost.
The status says the battery is 100% charged....
