SU1000net self tests every one or two minutes until battery is discharged.

This question was originally posted by Chuck on APC forums on 1/11/2009

Unit self tests every minute until battery is run down. Data log shows this condidtion for last 1000 entrys. AC mains OK other two UPS's happy. AC mains green led flashs while on Batt led yellow, then goes solid. No other alarms, Power Chute shows no spikes or dips. Load constant at 22 % Any body else see this before, is there a cure other than recycleing "trash can" ? Battery connections must be good or unit would not operate on Batt. Sensitivity set in power chute to low but led on back still indicated high, so pressed that button to get it to low. No Change. This went on for an hour then unit settled down. Cant put it in service this way till problem is corrected.
Open to all suggestions.
Thanks

Hi,

Are you using a serial cable for communication here?

If so, swap the comm cable with one of your other UPS's - I wouldn't be surprised if the issue followed the cable. If that is the case, please give APC support a call and we can replace the cable for you.

Does the log say "self test"? Now that would be odd...
