SMT and SUA 3000i with NMC2 Query
Hi All
I'm sure this is a really silly question but nevertheless here goes.
I want to connect an SMT3000i to one of our servers then use Powerchute BE to shutdown this and another server.
I can see the NMC2 using a browser and set the basic options over the web interface, no idea if this is as good as Powerchute or just a more basic option.
However I have plugged in the USB lead from the server into the RJ45 directly on the UPS and a separate lead from a network switch into the NMC2 RJ45 port, is this correct?
Powerchute cannot communicate with the UPS so I guess I've done something wrong.
I also need the same setup for a different installation in a different building using and SUA3000i. I note there is a different lead p/no for the SUA USB to RJ45 for some reason.
As I said if this is a silly question I apologise but I cannot seem to find where it states what needs to connect where, stuck for time as well as I go on leave from tomorrow night.
Do both UPS have network management cards (NMC) installed? If so you can install PowerChute Network Shutdown on each server and gracefully power them off via the NMC.
If the UPS do not have NMCs you can install PowerChute Business Edition on one of the server. You will need to connect the USB cable or Serial cable that shipped with UPS to the server for communications. For the second sever write a script that PowerChute will use to send a shutdown signal to the second server.
