SMC - How to get battery status from serial port

I have SMC1000IC. I can connect to UPS through Serial port or USB port with PowerChute Business Edition and I can get battery status from web interface.

In my application I can't use PowerChute. I need to get information if UPS is powered from Battery or AC and information if battery is empty. Is this possible?

Enable advanced menu, then see if there is a Modbus function you can enable, if it's possible then you can communicate using Modbus RTU over the serial.

SMC model UPS do not support Modbus. The SMT model Smart-UPS do.

@BillP do you maybe know what kind of protocol does SMC1000IC use on Serial port(port next to Network port)?
